Profile: 1/2 knot downstream current in calm water. Snags and some
shallow areas abound.
Getting there:
The Canoe / Kayak to Run Transition area is near the mouth of the Sammamish
Slough as it enters Lake Washington. The take-out area at Log Boom Park along
the northern most shore of Lake Washington. By car, take 61st from Bothell
Way and go right at the stop sign. The park parking lot is the end of the
road and may only be used for drop off and pick up. All other parking must
be along 175th. See link to transition schematic on the home page.
- Paddlers launch into the Sammamish Slough at Luke McRedmond Park in Redmond. It will be a Sunday so there should be adequate parking in the small Office / Shopping center adjacent to the park. There is a path leading down to the Slough.
- Paddle downstream approx. 12 miles. After exiting from the mouth of Sammamish Slough, paddle past Kenmore Air taking heed of seaplanes. Look for balloons at the end of Log Boom Park's dock. Leave the dock to your right and head into shore to the beach, disembark and touch off to your Half Marathon teammate or continure onto the run if you are and Iron Solo.
- Single Paddlers ONLY. No oarlocks. Canoes, kayaks, surfskis, Huki's, C-Lions and outriggers to 4'6" OK.
